Nuclear GSU Transformer Forensic

The crew just returned from another forensic transformer teardown. This 3 phase shell style transformer totaled over 850,000 lbs. This older transformer was of concern to this nuclear facility as it failed prematurely and with identical transformers in their system they needed to know what was going on in order to protect them from a potential catastrophic failure.

A-Line E.D.S. takes extra precaution with failed transformers in order to ensure the safety of our crews and also to not compromise the unit. This transformer tank was carefully prepped for removal.

Once the tank was removed A-Line E.D.S. worked with plant engineering to allow for examination of the transformer core assembly.

The core steel was removed and loaded out in preparation for transformer winding removal and root cause failure examination.

The transformer phases were then carefully removed and staged for detailed examination.

After the root cause failure analysis was completed all of the transformer material was loaded out for recycling at our EPA approved recycling facility.

A-Line E.D.S. always leaves the job site in as good, or better condition than we found it. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, safety, efficiency and customer service. Our team and specialized equipment and processes make us the best at what we do.
